London Calling

Hi guys! My hubby and I flew into London for the first leg of our honeymoon trip. We arrived there on September 8th and had a fantastic time seeing all the sights and meeting great people. We didn’t want to waste that Saturday morning so after checking into our hotel, settling in and freshening up, we took the tube to Notting Hill gate and headed for Portobello Road.

I’ve heard so much about Portobello Market from Charles so I was really excited to finally go there and check out all the shops. As a big fan of vintage pieces, I was really pleased to see all the jewelry, beaded handbags, leather satchels and vintage designer clothes.

First purchase of the day was a pair of vintage magazine prints. We got them from this man selling genuine 1920’s and 1930’s prints.

I also got this amazing leather jacket. At £20, it was such a great steal! They had it in black, blue and red but I went for this cream color instead because it goes with everything in my closet.

Portobello has such a vibrant and electrifying atmosphere. As you walk down the road, interspersed between vintage shops and stalls are musicians called Buskers as well as other street entertainers.
After shopping, we grabbed a bite to eat at the Sun in Splendour, a local pub along Portobello Road. We both ordered Fish and Chips, a quintessentially English meal served with a side order of mushy peas and chunky chips. This meal was really filling and was an apt introduction to British food.

We spent that afternoon checking out British labels and walking around Oxford and Regent Streets. We also dropped by Primark and H&M and I got myself geometric-printed dresses, peplum tops and accessories.

Charles insisted I stock my closet with a classic pair of boots. London was a logical shopping choice because it’s difficult to find them back home. While strolling around Selfridges, we found this gorgeous pair of L.K. Bennett black suede boots (similar style here.)

On to the outfit, I played with black and beige pieces. Because it was quite chilly walking down the streets of London, I had to wear opaque tights under my khaki shorts to  keep warm. I’m currently blogging from Venezia, Italy and can’t wait to share the rest of our Europe trip. Watch out for more posts and travel photo diaries! :)
