On our third day in London, we checked out the shops in Knightsbridge. After having breakky in Paul's, a local patisserie, we crossed the road and headed to one of London's most famous shops, Harrods. This luxury department store carries all high-end brands as well as its own signature products. Charles was excited to go in as he previously worked there for 10 years as Retail Operations Manager and wanted to see how things have evolved during his absence.
Having worked in the retail industry myself here in the Philippines, it was a real eye opener to see how Western retailers operate. Harrods definitely has it all― from the trademark Egyptian escalators, to the various designer labels and their latest inventory, impeccable visual display and outstanding customer service. Also, their food halls are a feast for the eyes, not just for the tummy.
Harrods is the epitome of luxury and decadence even their green plastic bags are sought after! Right after we finished shopping, I took a quick snap with one of their doormen, the famous "Green Man."
We then headed for Covent Garden to check out the vintage shops and indoor markets. Covent Garden has long been associated with both entertainment and shopping. This place is a hive of activity and every where you look, there's a street performer, a stall or a café .
We met up with a friend of Charles' and had lunch at the Punch & Judy pub. Their bangers (sausages) and chunky chips (fries) were really yummy!
After lunch, we browsed around the shops and saw a lot of assorted vintage merchandise. They also sold quirky British-themed souvenirs and accessories.
This is what I wore while checking out the antiques and vintage pieces. I got this dress a few weeks back and I absolutely love the scarf print, color palette and silhouette.
I'm wearing the cream leather jacket that I got from Portobello Market during our first day in London. I swear the fit is just fabulous! I'm extremely pleased I opted for this color as it is a great alternative to the standard black leather jacket.
Behind me are street performers entertaining the crowd.
Later that day, we had tickets for the evening performance of the musical,"We Will Rock You" at the Dominion Theatre along Tottenham Court Road. Because Covent Garden is centrally located and the theatre was within walking distance, we passed through Leicester Square and China Town.
Charles says "Hi!" from China Town! :)
