Last week, I attended the unveiling of METRO's 2012 Holiday Collection held at their Ayala Cebu branch. The event started with a fashion show featuring the collections of 3 top designers in Cebu namely, Arcy Gayatin, Mia Arcenas and Yvonne Quisumbing.
Arcy Gayatin, a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of the Philippines, was inspired by real women for this collection. As a designer, she's used to creating garments for fashion shows that fit her slender models. But because the pieces that she designed for METRO will be bought off the rack, she had to keep in mind women of different shapes and sizes. The chic and effortless style that her collection features is perfect for Holiday parties and evening affairs.
Mia Arcenas graduated Summa Cum Laude at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in LA. From her collaboration with METRO comes ISOLA— a special collection made for fashionable individuals who embrace the essence of summer all year round. Inspired by the beautiful islands and beaches of the Philippines, Mia Arcenas designed clothes with relaxed silhouettes that complement all body types. The collection offers luxurious and affordable pieces that are very easy to wear and accessorize.
Yvonne Quisumbing began her career in 2000 right after graduating from Fashion Design and Merchandising in De La Salle University. Her collection is for those who are looking for elegant cocktail pieces that can easily be mixed and matched. The sophisticated fabrics, clean lines and feminine silhouettes in her designs bring out a woman's confidence and style.
Arcy Gayatin's dresses are very wearable. I love that she used mostly solid colors in her designs and that she included peplum details and over-sized bow accents. The dresses are very pretty and lady-like and are really great for cocktail parties.
I especially like this beautiful hunter green peplum blouse and skirt combo.
Mia Arcenas' collection is more playful and features resort wear designs in Autumn-Winter colors. She incorporated chic trends like florals and color blocking in her pieces that reflect the fun and laid back lifestyle of Cebu.
Her figure flattering short and maxi dresses are the perfect frocks to wear to Holiday beach soirées.
Yvonne Quisumbing's designs are classic and versatile. She came up with stylish trousers, coats, skirts, tops and dresses with cut-out and mesh details.
I've always believed that living in a warm country doesn't stop us from wearing winter-inspired fashion. Included in her collection is this champagne-colored coat, a great tropical alternative to a wool jacket.
