The Royal Yacht Britannia

We couldn't leave Edinburgh without going aboard Her Majesty's Yacht Britannia, which is permanently moored as an exhibition ship at Ocean Terminal, Leith.

The Royal Yacht Britannia proudly served the British Royal Family for over 44 years. Aside from being the setting for official functions, it was also an ideal honeymoon venue. Four Royal honeymoons were enjoyed on board, most notably Prince Charles and Princess Diana's.

This magnificent State Dining Room hosted many famous guests including Churchill, Mandela, Reagan and Clinton. Displayed around the walls are many unique and exotic gifts given to The Queen, when she traveled during official visits.

 Ding- Ding! :)

The Queen once said of Britannia, "This is where I can truly relax." You will understand why the moment you enter the Royal Apartments. The sophisticated design of the rooms, the furniture and decor makes the yacht look more like a country house than a floating vessel.

This recreation area was a place for the crew to relax and unwind after a busy day in royal service.

I really had a wonderful time visiting Edinburgh. The city was like nothing I have ever seen before.
Cheerio, Scotland! Until next time! :)
