Postcards from Las Vegas

Continuing our US adventures, we packed our bags, bid adieu to LA and flew into the Silver State.

"What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas―" those immortal words ring true as soon as you step off the plane. With row upon row of slot machines and one arm bandits, the Arrivals lounge at McCarran International Airport gives you the first taste of Vegas, tempting you to that million dollar jackpot.

Room with a view. One of the highlights of our trip was waking up to this magnificent sight every morning. Shout out to our dear friend, Cryse, for hooking us up with the most decadent accommodation!

Much of the strip is the same, with its super size me gaudy hotel facades, mixed with elegance and glitz of high-end luxury retailers.

Sin city personified, there is nothing you can do in Vegas that's frowned upon and nothing that you can't do within reason. If a show is your cup of tea; perhaps hanging out at a blackjack table; indulging in retail therapy; or being a glutton in one of the countless restaurants serving everything from the staple American burger and fries to à la carte cuisine, Las Vegas has much to offer.

Outfit details: ASOS stripe midi dress, Parfois woven bag, Dorothy Perkins block heels.

Brunch with my brother at the charming French bistro, Mon Ami Gabi, Paris Las Vegas Hotel.

Just a quick drive out of town, you can shop from numerous designer labels and outlet stores. Another favourite shopping destination? Target. I swear to God this store is insane. I go in to buy organic snacks for my toddler and always end up with bags of clothes! I'm obsessed with the garments from the Who What Wear collection!

One of the best things about staying at Caesars Palace is its close proximity to The Forum Shops (the highest grossing mall in the US, with higher sales per sq ft. than Rodeo Drive.) Home to a number of mid-range and luxury retail brands and restaurants, the mall makes shopping very convenient. As soon as I put Lucy to sleep, I nip out of our hotel room and go downstairs to check out the shops.

The damage has been done. Got me a little something from Sandro. ;)

Outfit details: grey paisley maxi dress from the Who What Wear collection at Target; accessories as above.

Lip Service. A couple of weeks before flying to the US, I placed another Kylie Cosmetics order. Included in the haul are Candy K and backups of my favourite Posie K lipkit.

Dinner at The Giada Restaurant, The Cromwell Hotel.

Outfit details: seersucker off-shoulder dress from H&M; accessories as above.

No trip to Vegas would be complete without visiting the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop. If you're big fans of the History Channel show, don't forget to include this in your itinerary. Browse through the many antiques and historical artifacts; and if you're lucky, you might get the chance to see Rick and the boys in store.

Lastly, if being at one with nature is your thing, Red Rock Canyon is a short trip away and far closer than it's big brother, the Grand Canyon.

You can hike the trails or drive around the perimeter roads of the canyon park and spot the elusive birds of prey gliding above you.

Bye, Vegas! See you again soon!
